중정갤러리는 오는 5월 21일(목)부터 5월 24일(일)까지 코엑스 마곡에서 진행되는 하이브 아트페어에 전진표 작가의 ⟪무수히 흩어지는 순간들 (Scattering Moments)⟫전으로 참가합니다.

⟪무수히 흩어지는 순간들 | Scattering Moments)⟫전은 한눈에 조망되지 않는다. 시작부터 끝까지 고정된 시점이 아닌 움직이는 시선을 전제로 한다. 크고 작은 사이즈의 그림들이 벽에 걸리거나 기대어지지 않고, 부스 중앙에 길게 비규칙적으로 세워져 있다. 관람객은 각자의 시선의 높낮이, 걸음의 반경, 움직임의 리듬에 따라 겹겹이 서 있는 작품들 주위와 사이를 직접 거닐며 전시를 관람한다. 높고 낮은 작품들 사이로 고개를 기울이면서, 서로 다른 간격의 작품들 사이에서 몸을 비틀며 멀어졌다가 다시 가까이 다가서면서, 내딛는 걸음과 경로에 따라 나타나고 사라지는 작품을 살피면서, 관람객은 비로소 회화를 ‘감각’하게 된다. 작품들은 서로를 가리거나 덮고 있으며, 어느 위치에서든 반드시 겹쳐 보인다. 이로 인해 ‘걷는 시선’ 속에서 포개지고, 어긋나며, 스쳐 지나가는 이미지의 조각들은 언제나 다르게 조합된다. 어느 하나의 장면도 전체를 대표하지 않으며, 누구도 작품 또는 전시의 전부를 한눈에 포착할 수 없기에, 하나의 장면으로 환원되지 않는 이번 전시는 관람자의 움직임에 따라 끊임없이 새로 쓰이게 된다.

퍼포먼스 3:30 - 4:00 pm - B03 부스

약 30분동안 이어지는 퍼포먼스는 전시의 회화적 여운을 따라 흩어지는 말과 그 사이에 머무는 몸의 기록으로, 전시와 나란히 놓이는 연극적 시선을 보여준다.

전시된 작품들의 제목은 단어들의 나열로 구성되어 있다. 각각의 단어는 하나의 특정한 장면을 단독으로 직접 묘사하거나 지시하진 않지만, 그 자체로 방향과 관계, 또는 사건의 상태를 암시한다. 이러한 단어들을 기반으로 짜여진 대사와 호흡, 그리고 움직임을 통해 하나의 고정된 이미지 혹은 장면이 아닌, ‘장면과 장면 사이,’ ‘장면이 머물다 간 자리’의 감각을 환기한다. (구성/연출 : 전진모)

이어서 진행되는 아티스트 토크에서는 전시 기획자 최재우(Side Room 디렉터)가 모더레이터로 참여하며, 전진표 작가의 최근 작업 세계를 중심으로, 회화와 공간, 움직임과 감각의 관계를 함께 살펴본다. 작가의 초기작-공사장의 가림막에서 비롯된 구조적 관심, 겹과 틈의 감각, 반복과 변주의 리듬, 그리고 언어와 시선의 이동 등 작업 전반을 관통하는 주요 요소들을 따라가며, 관람자의 움직임 속에서 새롭게 구성되는 회화의 가능성에 대해 대화를 나눌 예정이다.

Joong Jung Gallery is participating in the HIVE Art Fair at COEX Magok from May 21 (Thu) to May 24 (Sun), featuring a solo exhibition by Jinpyo Jun, ⟪무수히 흩어지는 순간들 | Scattering Moments)⟫.

Joong Jung Gallery's solo presentation of Jinpyo Jun, titled ⟪무수히 흩어지는 순간들 | Scattering Moments)⟫ does not unfold at a single glance. Rather than assuming a fixed viewpoint from beginning to end, the exhibition is premised on a moving gaze. Paintings of varying dimensions neither hang on walls nor lean against them, but stand irregularly erected in an extended formation throughout the center of the booth. Visitors navigate around and between these layered works according to the height of their gaze, the radius of their steps, and the rhythm of their movement. By tilting one's head between elevated and lowered works, contorting one's body through varied intervals between the pieces, retreating and approaching anew, and observing works that materialize and vanish according to one's trajectory and pace, viewers gradually come to "sense" rather than simply “see” the paintings. The works obstruct and overlay one another, invariably appearing superimposed from every point of perspective. Consequently, within this "walking gaze," image fragments that overlap, shift, misalign, and brush past each other combine in perpetually changing configurations. No single scene can represent the whole, and no viewer can capture the work's or exhibition's entirety in a single glance. This exhibition, irreducible to any singular scene, is constantly rewritten according to each viewer's movement.

Exhibition-related Performance : 3:30 - 4:00 pm - booth B03

Lasting approximately thirty minutes, the performance traces the painterly afterimage of the exhibition through scattered words and records of bodies lingering in between them, presenting a theatrical gaze that runs parallel to the exhibition itself.

The titles of the exhibited works are composed as sequences of words. While no single word directly describes or points to a specific scene, each suggests a direction, relation, or state of an event. Through dialogues and movements structured around these words, the performance evokes not a fixed image or singular scene, but rather the sensation of “in between scenes” — the traces left where a scene once lingered. Artist Talk : 4:30 - 5:50 pm - 3rd floor, room 300

The artist talk that follows will be moderated by curator Ryan Choi (Director of Side Room) and will focus on Jinpyo Jun’s recent body of work, examining the relationships between painting and space, movement and sensation. The conversation will trace key elements running throughout the artist’s practice: his early structural interests derived from construction-site barriers, the sensibility of layers and gaps, rhythms of repetition and variation, and the movement of language and gaze. Together, they will consider the possibilities of painting as something continually reconfigured through the movement of the viewer.
