케이리즈갤러리(대표 Liz Kim)는 독창적인 작품 세계로 미술계의 주목을 받는 젊은 작가 Feliz Park(펠리즈 박)의 개인전 ‘Passion Part II: Forest, Expansion of Passion’ (숲, 열정의 확장)을 개최한다. 20대임에도 불구하고 2022년과 2023년 연이어 국립현대미술관 미술은행에 작품이 소장될 정도로 뛰어난 역량을 인정받은 Feliz Park은, 일상적인 공간을 독창적으로 해석한 ‘나의 방(My Room)’ 시리즈와 생명력 넘치는 ‘화분/나무’ 시리즈를 통해 섬세하고 뛰어난 질감 표현과 독특한 색채 감각을 선보이며 신인답지 않은 깊이 있는 작품 세계를 구축해 왔다.

이번 전시 ‘Passion’은 Feliz Park의 예술에 대한 끊임없는 열정이 어떻게 형성되고 진화하며 확장되어 왔는지를 보여주는 여정의 중요한 단계를 담고 있다. 지난 2025년 4월 2일부터 24일까지 개최되었던 ‘Part I: Hidden Forest in a Room’ (방 안의 숨겨진 숲)에서는 작가가 기존에 선보였던 방과 화분 시리즈를 통해 제한된 ‘방’이라는 공간 속에서 발견되는 내면의 열정을 마치 숨겨진 숲처럼 섬세하게 그려내며 관람객들에게 깊은 인상을 남겼다. 이어지는 ‘Passion’ Part II: Forest, Expansion of Passion’에서는 그동안의 다채로운 작업 경험과 새롭게 흡수한 영감을 바탕으로 더욱 폭넓은 세상으로 나아가고자 하는 작가의 예술적 열망을 숲과 같이 광활한 이미지로 확장하여 보여주는 중요한 변곡점이 될 것이다.

이번 전시에 평론 글을 게재한 Iain Robertson 교수(홍익대학교 문화예술경영학과 교수, 前 런던 소더비 인스티튜트 학과장)는 Feliz Park이 주변 세계를 독특한 패턴으로 번역하고, 밝고 생생한 색상과 상징적인 형태를 통해 자신만의 예술 세계를 구축했다고 평하며, 그의 작품에서 멕시코 벽화, 이집트 무덤 예술, 비잔틴 회화 등 고대 미술과의 유사성을 발견하였으며, 동시에 이왈종, 데이비드 호크니, 훈데르트바서 등 다른 화가들과 비교하며 Feliz Park만의 상징주의, 사실주의, 추상주의의 혼합이라는 독창적인 위치를 확립한다고 강조했다.

본 전시와 관련하여 ‘Le Salon de Feliz (펠리즈의 거실)’ 이라는 제목으로 Feliz Park과 함께 하는 아트 토크가 개최될 예정이다. 본 행사는 Feliz Park의 작품 세계를 주제로 여러 미술 애호가가 참석하여 자유롭게 토론하는 형식으로 5월 9일에 케이리즈 갤러리에서 진행될 예정이며, 이안 로버트슨 교수가 진행할 예정이다.

‘Passion Part II : Forest, Expansion of Passion’ 전시는 Feliz Park 작가의 예술적 열정이 제한된 공간을 넘어 더욱 넓은 세계로 확장되는 중요한 순간을 포착한 결과물이다. 그의 작품을 통해 관람객들은 젊은 예술가의 뜨거운 열정과 무한한 가능성을 확인하고, 자신만의 내면에 숨겨진 열정을 발견하는 특별한 경험을 하게 될 것이다.

K-LIZ Gallery (Representative: Liz Kim) is pleased to present the solo exhibition ‘Passion Part II: Forest, Expansion of Passion’ by the emerging artist Feliz Park, who is garnering attention in the art world for his unique artistic realm. Despite being in his twenties, Feliz Park’s exceptional talent has been recognized with his works being acquired by the Art Bank of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art for two consecutive years, 2022 and 2023. Through his ‘My Room’ series, which uniquely interprets personal spaces, and his vibrant ‘Plant/Tree’ series, Park has established a profound artistic world that surpasses the level of a newcomer, showcasing meticulous and outstanding textural expressions and a distinctive color sensibility achieved through his own masterful color mixing.

This exhibition ‘Passion’ marks a significant stage in the journey of Feliz Park’s unwavering passion for art, illustrating its formation, evolution, and expansion. The preceding exhibition, ‘Part I: Hidden Forest in a Room’, held from April 2 to April 24, 2025, offered viewers a profound experience of discovering the inner passion hidden within the confined space of ‘the room’ through his existing series of plants and rooms, depicted with delicate artistry as a hidden forest. ‘Passion Part II: Forest, Expansion of Passion’ signifies a crucial turning point, showcasing the artist’s aspiration to extend his accumulated artistic passion, gained through diverse creative experiences and newly absorbed inspirations, into the vast world, symbolized by the expansive imagery of a forest.

Professor Iain Robertson (Professor of Arts and Cultural Management at Hongik University, former Head of Art Business Department at Sotheby's Institute of Art, London), who contributed an essay to this exhibition, highly praised Feliz Park’s ability to translate the surrounding world into unique patterns, his use of vivid colors and symbolic forms, and the similarities found in ancient art. He drew comparisons between Feliz Park's work and that of Lee Wal-chong, David Hockney, and Friedensreich Hundertwasser, highlighting Feliz Park's unique blend of Symbolism, Realism, and Abstraction.

To further engage with the artist's world, K-LIZ Gallery will host an art talk with Feliz Park titled ‘Le Salon de Feliz (Feliz's Salon).’ This event will provide a platform for art enthusiasts to freely discuss the artistic universe of Feliz Park in the presence of the artist. The discussion will be led by Professor Iain Robertson, offering insightful perspectives on Park’s work.

‘Passion Part II: Forest, Expansion of Passion’ is the culmination of Feliz Park’s artistic passion expanding beyond limited spaces into a broader world. Through his artworks and the upcoming art talk, viewers will witness the fervent passion and boundless potential of a young artist and encounter a special opportunity to discover the hidden passions within themselves.
