This action reinforces the U.S. Department of Defense’s rebalance to the Asia-Pacific Region and makes 2ID a more agile force, more capable of deterring aggression on the peninsula. Deploying the 4-6th Attack Reconnaissance Squadron to South Korea is strictly defensive and designed to increase 2ID readiness to defend the ROK, protect the region, and maintain stability on the Korean peninsula.

“Our deployment here is a win-win on two fronts. One, we are bringing a fully trained operational ready unit to the Korean peninsula that is ready to fight tonight in support of our higher headquarters,” said Maj. Ryan Guthrie, the 4-6th Attack Reconnaissance Squadron battalion executive officer. “On the other hand, we will leave the peninsula with a force that is even better trained and has more experience which will enhance the force.”
