유의정, 최경문 2인전, “Re Born” 갤러리 아트비앤
3월 10일부터 4월 14일까지 갤러리 아트비앤에서 “Re Born” 표제로 유의정, 최경문 2인전이 열린다.

이번 전시 타이틀인 <Re Born> 은 선택된 사물이 현대미술로 재해석되거나, 휴머니즘과 작가만의
철학이 담긴 다양한 흥미로운 접근 방법으로 재탄생 하거나, 새로운 가치를 담아 재현하거나,
실재와 허구를 가늠할 수없이 사이를 넘나드는 현상에 대한 이야기를 담고 있습니다.
유의정 작가는 전통 도자기를 현대미술의 시각으로 새롭게 재현하거나, 그 표면에 유명 브랜드
로고와 캐릭터 등을 덧붙이거나 새겨서 재해석한 도자기 설치를 소개한다. 전통 도자기에 대한
개념은 현대적 공간에 끌어오면서 다양한 아이디어로 시각화해 나가고 있다. 수년간 보이지 않는
내제된 현상을 담은 <Glassscape> 작업 시리즈와 연관된 개념으로 이어져온 최경문 작가의 최근
<Antifoetor> 시리즈 작업은 엔틱 향수병 이미지를 이용해 보다 일괄되게 이전의 개념과 상호
연결되면서 보다 포괄적인 인간 삶의 가치, 그리고 아름다움을 상징적으로 구현하고 있다.
이번 전시는 이 두 작가의 작품을 통해 현대문화현상을 담아내거나, 각인 되어진 이미지를 통해
감성을 소비하는 환경, 존재하나 허구 일 수 있는, 화려해 보이지만 수많은 현상들이 복합적으로
대립되어 원형을 잃어버리거나, 경계를 허물며 새로운 미래와 마주하는 바로 다양한 현상을
우리들의 진실한 시선을 통해 함께 소통해보는 시간이 될 것입니다.
Gallery artbn is pleased to announce <Re Born>, a two person exhibition of work by
YOO Eui Jeong and CHOI Kyong Moon from March 10 through April 14, 2017.
This exhibition <Re Born> is about the story of phenomenon such as reinterpreted as
a contemporary art through selected objects, recreated into various interesting
approaches with humanism issues or based on philosophy which artists have.
In other ways, anything would be possible to reproduce with new values that obtain
crossing over between reality and fiction.
In this exhibition, YOO Eui Jeong reproduces the traditional pottery and reinterprets
them with the view of the modern art which enchase or attach the famous brand logo
and character on its surface. In his installation, the concept of traditional ceramics is
being visualized with various ideas as it draws into modern space. CHOI Kyong Moon
presents selected works of <Antifoetor> series from interconnected concept of <Glass
landscape> paintings with famous brand-scent-glass to find invisible inner phenomenon
produced during the last years. The selected works embody more comprehensively
about the value of human life and beauty with using images of splendid antique
bottles.
Through the works of art by the two artists, the environment exist to embody contemporary
cultural phenomena around us, or make figuration splendidly without the
essence and original form, or consume human sensibility through the imprinted
commercial images. This exhibition will be possible to provide a time to consider and
communicate with these issues through our sincere gaze which we are confronted with
various complexities against the original forms, or to break down the boundaries
between the present and future.

“우리의 현재 모습에서 자신이 지녀왔던 본질로 회귀하는
과정을 보여주려 한다. 우리는 현재에 안주하는 삶보다는
과거에 비해 한발 더 나아지고, 발전하기를 추구한다. 과거
하나의 작품을 만들기 위하여 몇 달의 시간을 보내던 과거에
비해 현재는 효율적인 생산과정을 만들고 시간을 단축해왔다.
다량의 제품을 기계로 찍어내고, 그에 맞는 브랜드 이미지를
만들어 가치를 형성한 기성품과 브랜드 현 시대의 소비시장을
대표한다.
새로운 방향으로 나아가기 위해 방법으로 우리는 본질을
변형하거나 부정하곤 한다. 또는 현대의 물질적인 것을 취하곤
한다. 그럼에도 불구하고 본질에서 벗어나 새로운 방향으로
나아가려는 변형과 부정의 반복 속에 그 본질의 힘을 찾으려는
회귀 본능을 가진다.
우리는 전통적인 것을 때론 진부하고 현대의 변화 속에 그
본질의 기능을 잃어버린 퇴물로 여기기도 한다. 허나, 본질은
현재의 표상이며 마침내 본질로 회귀 되곤 한다. 변형과 부정의
반복 속에서 우리를 본질로 돌아오게 하는 힘을 무엇일까?”
