이번 전시명인 <Bound Space>는 유연한 조각을 보여준다. 견고하게 있어야 할 것들, 건축의 요소들과 구조물의 직선들은 작가의 작업 속에서 휘어지거나 액체처럼 흘러내린다. 구조의 경직성이나 수직성이 부서지고 나면, 곡선의 새로운 형태가 생겨난다. 작가는 구조를 파괴적으로가 아닌 감각적이고 여성적인 방식으로 깨고자 한다.
유연한 조각은 공간과의 상호작용을 통해서, 공간에 맞게 자신의 형태를 변화한다. 모든 것들은 늘 어떤 구조 안에 위치한다. 물리적으로 건물이나 공간안에 자리하고 있는 것뿐만 아니라, 또한 사회와 문화안에서 살아있는 것들은 그가 속한 구조 안에 자신을 적응시키려 노력한다. 그것들이 모두 그 안에 들어맞을 수 없으며, 필연적으로 내용과 구조의 관계는 유기적으로 발전하게 된다. 작가는 특히 도시적 정황 속에서, 이 과정에 따라 발생하는 긴장감이나 흥미로운 순간들을 시각화한다.
The exhibition <Bound Space> shows flexible sculpture. Things that have to be solid, elements of architecture, and straight lines of structures are bent or flowed like liquid in my work. When the rigidity or vericality of the structure is broken, a new shape of the curve emerges. I rather break the structure in a sensual, feminie way than in a destructive way.
Through the interplay with the space, my flexible sculpture is altered its form to adapt to the space. Everything is always placed in a certain structure. Both physically in a building or a space, and in society and its culture, living beings try to adjust themselves in the structures. Not all of them can fit into it, of necessity the relationship between the contents and the structures develope organically. I focus on visualizing the tension and the fascinating moments, especially in the urban context, that occur during this process.
