CGFNS International and The DAISY Foundation Celebrate Excellence in International Nurse Recruitment

PHILADELPHIA, PA /-

In a landmark ceremony held in New York City on March 11, 2024, CGFNS International, in collaboration with The DAISY Foundation, recognized two exceptional individuals for their significant contributions to ethical international nurse recruitment. Sinead Carbery and Christy Craft were honored with the inaugural CGFNS DAISY Award for Outstanding International Nurse Recruiter, marking a notable moment in the support and acknowledgment of ethical practices in the recruitment of international nurses.

Sinead Carbery, who serves as the President of International Staffing Solutions at AMN Healthcare, and Christy Craft, a Quality Improvement Nurse Manager at Health Carousel, were chosen from a competitive pool of over 140 nominations. Their dedication to assisting foreign-educated nurses in overcoming the hurdles they encounter as they transition to the U.S. healthcare system has been commendable.

Carbery, an immigrant nurse from Ireland with nearly three decades of experience in international recruitment, has been instrumental in aiding thousands of nurses in their migration journey. Her commitment to ethical recruitment practices and her empathetic approach toward the nurses and their families have earned her this prestigious recognition.

Christy Craft has significantly impacted the placement of over 500 nurses in 2023 through her leadership. She oversees programs that facilitate the smooth transition of migrating nurses into their roles as registered nurses in the United States, ensuring they are well-prepared for their responsibilities.

The CGFNS DAISY Award for Outstanding International Nurse Recruiter honors nurses involved in international recruitment who demonstrate an extraordinary commitment to the well-being of nurse migrants. Emphasizing the ethos of "nurses helping nurses," the award acknowledges individuals who embody compassion, empathy, and adherence to ethical recruitment principles.

Dr. Peter Preziosi, President and CEO of CGFNS International, along with Dr. Deb Zimmermann, CEO of The DAISY Foundation, presented the awards, underscoring the importance of ethical recruitment practices in nursing and the significant role of nurses in enhancing healthcare delivery globally.

CGFNS International, established in 1977, stands as the foremost credentials evaluation organization for the nursing and allied health professions. Its dedication to facilitating the safe and effective integration of foreign-educated health professionals into the workforce is echoed in its recognition by the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).

The DAISY Foundation, founded in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, aims to express gratitude to the nursing profession through various recognition programs and research initiatives. Its commitment to honoring nurses for their extraordinary impact on patients and their families continues to inspire the healthcare community worldwide.

This prestigious award highlights the vital role of nurses in the global healthcare ecosystem, celebrating their dedication to ethical practices, compassion, and excellence in international nurse recruitment.
