📰 한글날, 세종의 뜻을 기리며 — 말과 글로 이어지는 우리의 정신

 매년 10월 9일은 대한민국의 자랑스러운 문자, 한글의 창제를 기념하는 한글날이다.
한글은 1443년 세종대왕과 집현전 학자들에 의해 창제되어, 1446년 ‘훈민정음(訓民正音)’이라는 이름으로 반포되었다.
그 뜻은 “백성을 가르치는 바른 소리”로, 모든 백성이 쉽게 배우고 쓸 수 있도록 세종대왕이 깊은 애민정신으로 만든 문자이다.

 오늘날 한글은 과학적이고 독창적인 문자 체계로 세계적으로 인정받고 있으며,
유네스코 세계기록유산으로 등재된 훈민정음 해례본은 인류 문화의 위대한 유산으로 손꼽힌다.

 한글날은 1926년 처음 ‘가갸날’로 지정된 이후 여러 변화를 거쳐,
1990년부터는 국경일로 지정되어 매년 온 국민이 그 뜻을 기리고 있다.

 올해도 전국 곳곳에서는 한글의 우수성과 아름다움을 되새기는 전시, 학술대회, 문화행사가 열리고 있다.
특히 젊은 세대들이 SNS와 디자인, K-콘텐츠를 통해 한글의 예술적 가치를 새롭게 표현하며
‘살아 숨 쉬는 문자’로서 한글의 가능성을 넓혀가고 있다.

 세종의 애민정신으로 시작된 한글의 창제는

📰 Hangeul Day — Honoring King Sejong’s Legacy and the Spirit of Our Language

 Every year on October 9, Korea celebrates Hangeul Day, a national holiday that honors the creation of the Korean alphabet, Hangeul.
 Hangeul was invented in 1443 by King Sejong the Great and scholars of the Hall of Worthies (Jiphyeonjeon),
and was officially promulgated in 1446 under the name Hunminjeongeum, meaning “the correct sounds for the instruction of the people.”

 King Sejong’s deep compassion for his people inspired him to create a writing system that anyone, regardless of class or education, could easily learn and use.

 Today, Hangeul is recognized worldwide for its scientific structure and originality.
The Hunminjeongeum Manuscript is listed as a UNESCO Memory of the World,
praised as one of humanity’s most brilliant cultural achievements.

 Hangeul Day was first celebrated in 1926 under the name “Gagyanal,”
and after several historical changes, it became a national holiday in 1990.
Each year, Koreans across the nation commemorate the day through exhibitions, lectures, and cultural events
that highlight the beauty and excellence of the Korean script.

 In recent years, younger generations have embraced Hangeul through social media, design, and K-content,
showing the world that Hangeul is not only a tool for communication but also a living form of art and identity.

The creation of Hangeul, born from King Sejong’s benevolence, remains the foundation of Korean thought and expression today—
a timeless symbol of Korean identity, creativity, and pride.
