I'd like to cross over the river of Lethe

Sewol-ho
The cruise ship which had carried the happiness at one time and yellow ribbon became a heavy word symbolizing the big pain and scar of these days.
April 16, 2014
I look back the disastrous accident of Sewol-ho which had been taken place 2 years ago. We had despaired and despaired while we had watched the live televising of the horrible scene of sinking dejectedly for the flowers of the youth without resisting. We realized the human limit keenly and dropped tears and resented the sky.
730 days, 104 weeks, 24 months, 2 years..
But we forgot it already.
The clear memories were sunk into oblivion in the stream of time in spite that the sorrow of the left people is so desperate.
I see the spiritual trauma which floats around.
Taking the painful memory of Sewol-ho for a motive as a photographer
It is my style of exorcism which can face the history by healing the despair.
I wish to face the righteous sprit of the times and balanced history while I neutralize the trauma with the repetitive exposure for taking angle which is the character of photo media.
The photo records now, but tells today by becoming the past.
Numerous incomplete narratives of imagination are the established mise en scene (putting on stage) for visual parameter.
Dangsanmok which was a firm reliance by keeping the village for a long time is the converging point of Korea folk belief with impregnated racial sorrow.
I captured my private wish for healing the spirit of unblown spiritual flowers and eternal rest.
How much the accident of Sewol-ho remembered to the people and forgotten inside the real life?
The work started from such combining curiosity and imagination was specified into the photos through taking interview with people. I tried to look into the marginal sense of spectrum across own thinking memory and oblivion via the position of yellow ribbon inside the photo, the symbol of Sewol-ho.
Time swallows the memory.
There are sad memories to be forgotten to somebody,
and faint memories not to be forgotten to somebody.
Also, it sinks into oblivion slowly.
Tragic historic events are overlapped with the memories of other events and they are being forgotten through repetition.
Historic chain spoken with the struggling between the right to be forgotten and memory.
It is an eternal destiny which I or all of we should carry over.
